New Canon Scanner DR-7090C

What's cool about this scanner, are the Scan2 functions. Scan2email, scan2folder and my favorite scan2print plus tha ability to scan mixed pages. I've envisioned the office of the future to have scan stations and a few workgroup printers. You could process all of your documents at the scanner and if copies were needed they sent as scan2print at a highvolume workgroup printer!

New Scanner Offers Unprecedented Flexibility While Maintaining Highest Image Quality

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., December 2, 2008 – Continuing to advance its award-winning DR-Series Scanner line, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital document imaging and office solutions, today introduced the Canon imageFORMULA DR-7090C Universal Production Scanner.

First previewed at the ARMA International Annual Conference last month, the Canon DR-7090C delivers incredible flexibility, image quality and reliability at high scanning speeds by leveraging technologies from Canon's award-winning imageFORMULA and imageRUNNER product lines. The DR-7090C has special appeal for the government, education, legal and financial marketplaces, due to its two-way design, capable of fast one-pass duplex and easy flatbed scanning, both in one compact unit.

"The DR-7090C is the newest addition to our DR-Series scanning and image capture line, whose combination of high-quality images, reliable paper handling, and excellent performance offer our customers a full range of scanning and archiving solutions," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "By combining some of our leading technologies from other product lines, we are able to offer one of the most efficient, practical scanners on the market in the DR-7090C."

Through utilizing the imageRUNNER Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), the Canon DR-7090C scanner can handle high-volume batch jobs, achieving rapid speeds of up to 70 pages-per-minute (ppm)* in color, grayscale or black-and-white, and is capable of one-pass duplex document scanning, at speeds of up to 88 images per minute (ipm)*. Through the use of the flatbed, the DR-7090C scanner also provides the versatility for scanning bound books, business cards, and thick or fragile documents. Combined with resolutions up to 600 dots-per-inch (dpi), and boasting intelligent scanning features such as Three-Dimensional Color Correction and a new Advanced Text Enhancement mode, the Canon DR-7090C will enable companies to increase productivity and efficiency due to its high speed and versatility.

Durable, Efficient, Easy-to-Use
With a suggested daily volume of up to 8,000 sheets** and using Canon's Inclined Plane Separating Mechanism, which helps provide smooth, jam-free feeding, the Canon DR-7090C was designed to withstand continuous use in production scanning environments.

The space-saving design of this combination flatbed/sheet-fed color production scanner, and features such as dual Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports and SCSI-III interfaces, allow for easy and seamless integration into most business environments. It also comes bundled with Canon CapturePerfect 3.0 software, which streamlines the image capture process and helps produce consistent, high-quality scans.

Keeping the end-user in mind, the Canon DR-7090C offers an easy-to-use control panel that helps ensure effortless operation, even for a walk-up user. Scan-To-Job functions can be programmed to support direct, one-touch scanning to e-mail, file folders, printers, and up to 99 customized, predefined jobs. In addition, there is no manual presorting required when using the ADF, as the scanner automatically detects the size of each document in a mixed batch, and an advanced page separation mechanism allows for smooth and efficient document feeding for unattended batch scanning.

To facilitate integration with customer infrastructures, the Canon DR-7090C scanner has been tested and is compatible with imaging solutions from the following software vendors***:

Datacap, Inc.
DocuWare
FileBound
GoScan
IproTech
Laserfiche
Westbrook Technologies Inc.

Canon will begin accepting orders for the imageFORMULA DR-7090C, which will be available through authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers, select distributors, and Canon resellers at a manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) of $6,995.

The scanner in the picture is the network-attached ScanFRONT 220P that you like so much. The 7090c is a traditional PC-Attached (USB or SCSI) scanner based on the 2-headed scanner of the irc5185.
