That's the first thing I thought of when I read the report from BLI, that Canon USA had won yet another "MFP line of the Year" Award. Kudos to Canon for winning six out of the last eight years. You guys are doing something right!George Carlin stated "If a man smiles all the time he’s probably selling something that doesn’t work." I'm not saying that Canon stuff (yeah, George had a lot to day about stuff) doesn't work, however six out of eight years is a bit much for me.
Coming from a company that named Duplo for outstanding picks in Segment 3 & 4 in 2007! If you're not familiar with Duplo, they mostly resell duplicators and finisher equipment. The two MFP's that won the awards are relabeled (meaning someone else is the manufacturer).
It seems to me that every manufacturer will win an award one day.......as long as you can slap a label on it and plug it in. Which leads me to another rant, every time I see a new report from independent analysts on a new machine, rest assured that you will never every see a "Do Not Buy Recommendation". Personally, I haven't seen one in twenty years.
Sometimes, I just shake my head and really wonder if these reports mean anything to end users or are they published just for benefit the manufacturers and the salespeople.
Borrowing another line from George Carlin; "One out of every three Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of two of your best friends. If they are OK, then it must be you." Did you know George Carlin was in the movie?
All kidding aside "With Six You Get Eggroll" was a great kids movie. George Carlin made his first feature film, Doris Day made her final big screen appearance. Jamie Farr, Barbara Hershey and Brian Keith were also in the cast and does anyone remember the Grass Roots playing the nightclub?
Summary: Canon is doing everything right! Plus, I'm not sure every machine is "the best thing since sliced bread" (George wrote something on that also).

Canon does make excellent equipment, as does Ricoh, Xerox, Kyocera, Sharp, etc., etc., etc.
Since it's all good, it will come down to who has the best and widest distribution. Ricoh buys IKON, Xerox buys Global! Hello...Canon...are you there?
In regard to the fact that everyone wins an award your right.
If you ask me, if BERTL were giving out awards for the Olympic 100 meters sprint, the following would apply.
1. White male winner of the 100 meters.
2. Black male winner of the 100 meters
3. White male winner with black hair of the 100 meters.
4. White male winner with blonde hair of the 100 meters.
5. Black male winner with black hair of the 100 meters.
6. Black male winner with dyed hair of the 100 meters.
7. White male winner with a moustache of the 100 metere.
And on, and on it goes !!!
Same in our industry, if every manufacturer gets a prize that they can include in their site seller, BERTL (hopefully) gets to keep a paying customer.
