Top Ten Predictions for the Copier Industry in 2010
It's that time of the year again!!
Can we all be thankful that 2009 is going, going, gone!!!
The office equipment industry was rocked this year with additional consolidation with the likes of Canon, OCE, Nuance, e-Copy, Xerox and HP.
I've got good news, this is going to continue into 2010!
Who will the players be in 2010?
Here's my predictions for 2010, enjoy!
1. HP makes Hostile bid for Xerox
2. Kyocera acquires Sharp's MFP business
3. KonicaMinolta acquires Toshiba's MFP business
4. Ricoh acquires Kodak Print Production Group
5. Matt Espe is announced and new Ricoh CEO
6. Samsung purchases Memjet technology
7. Samsung is number #1 in world wide MFP placements
8. Panasonic finally throws in the towel!
9. Print Management Software is now a standard bid spec for the federal government (GREEN rules)
10. Okidata acquires Lexmark
Yeah, I know some of these are far fetched, who knows we've seen crazier things happen in the industry, right? If you've got anything to add, post it here and I'll add the comments!
-=Good Selling=-
Okidata acquires Lexmark, Kyocera acquires Sharp.. must be the 2010 century jokes!!!! May be the other way round.....

ReplyDeleteThanx for the comment! Told ya, a few were far fetched! Don't understimate Oki's desire to win with MFP's though.

Memjet's got their head shoved too far up their arse to sell to Samsung, which would probably the best thing for them and their dysfunctional organization.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Far fetched is right- BUT 2009 had some BIG SURPRISES!!! At this time, I can not rule out anything that you had speculated on, but I will add my thoughts- Lexmark will increase, while Oki decreases, and Sharp will partner with Toshiba before they would talk with KM...
ReplyDelete-Your Ricoh observation is right-
-Samsung will be a major player in 2010, maybe with your predictions, certainly in some big maneuver-
Hang on tight, and be ready for opportunities!!!

ReplyDeleteThanx for the comment, we'll all be waiting with baited breath to see what 2010 holds for the industry.
Facts are businesses want to print and copy less. Samsung has positioned it self as the king of A4 devices with 70 & 90 ppm devices ready to go, while the major Japanese copier companies have rested on thier laurels with A3.
Who will the final 5 be?
Yes, businesses want to print and copy less-but the MFGs want to control and dictate more-With the money that the leading Mfgs have, and with the current economic crisis at hand, 2010 will be a wild ride indeed!!
ReplyDeletebtw, Samsung has ramped up their exposure, I do expect them to become a major player in the next year/s-
ReplyDeletestrong product/support/distribution=great expectations-
Seems like Toshiba Business Systems may be on the block now, could this be a move from Kyocera?
